“Training has been good but that is a controlled environment. Until we play a game, and I put my body on the line, I won’t know how it is. Friday afternoon I will be either really happy or really disappointed.”

Boogaardplayed five seasons each at the Mariners and Adelaide before joining the Jets for the 2015-16 season.

After two disappointing campaigns, he is excited at the direction the club is now headed.

“When you go through the tough times, you always hope there is something better on the horizon,” Boogaard said. “The boys have achieved great things this year and I am excited at what the future holds. The majority of the boys are sticking around and Ernie is sticking around as well.

“I’m really looking forward to the semi-final, and hopefully beyond that. I am proud of what we have done this year and the part I have played. I will be there (semi-final) one way or another, whether it is on the park or in the change room trying to help the boys.”
